BAE Systems Secures $2.5 Billion CV90 Combat Vehicles Deal with Sweden and Denmark

BAE Systems has signed a significant $2.5 billion contract with Sweden and Denmark for the delivery of new CV90 combat vehicles, enhancing military capabilities and including additional vehicles for Ukraine.

BAE Systems, a leading defense and aerospace company, has announced a major contract valued at approximately $2.5 billion with Sweden and Denmark for the procurement of new CV90 combat vehicles. This deal, which was finalized under a new three-party framework agreement, marks a significant expansion in military capabilities for both countries and includes additional vehicles for Ukraine, financed by the Swedish and Danish governments.

The agreement involves the delivery of 115 CV9035MkIIIC vehicles to Denmark and 50 to Sweden. These vehicles are part of a broader initiative to enhance the operational capabilities of the armed forces in both nations. The CV90, known for its versatility and combat-proven performance, will be equipped with the latest advancements, including the new CV90 turret, which offers improved design and functionality.

Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, highlighted the strategic importance of this deal, stating that the new vehicles will significantly enhance the situational awareness, mobility, protection, and lethality of the Swedish and Danish armed forces. The CV90 platform, which is already in use by 10 European nations, including eight NATO members, has been a cornerstone in various military operations worldwide.

The production of these vehicles will be distributed among partner nations, with assembly lines in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. BAE Systems has been investing heavily in its Swedish facilities to increase production capacity, ensuring timely delivery of the vehicles by 2029.

This contract not only strengthens the defense capabilities of Sweden and Denmark but also underscores the growing demand for advanced military vehicles in Europe. The inclusion of vehicles for Ukraine further emphasizes the strategic alliances and support within the region.
