Airbus Delivers 84 Planes in November, Faces December Challenge to Meet Annual Target

Airbus delivered 84 aircraft in November 2024, marking a significant increase in deliveries as the company aims to meet its annual target. The deliveries were bolstered by a partnership with engine maker CFM, helping to overcome previous supply chain challenges.

Airbus, the European aerospace giant, has reported a significant achievement in its delivery schedule for November 2024. The company successfully delivered 84 aircraft to 42 customers, marking a notable increase from previous months and a 20% year-over-year rise compared to November 2023. This surge in deliveries comes as Airbus aims to meet its ambitious annual target of around 770 aircraft deliveries by the end of the year.

The increase in deliveries was largely facilitated by a recent agreement with engine manufacturer CFM, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran. This partnership helped resolve earlier supply chain issues that had slowed production. By prioritizing Airbus's production needs, CFM temporarily redirected engine supplies away from airline maintenance, significantly boosting Airbus's engine availability and accelerating the delivery process.

Despite the impressive November figures, Airbus still faces a challenging December, needing to deliver at least 127 aircraft to meet its annual target. Analysts, however, remain cautiously optimistic, with some predicting a more conservative target of 750 deliveries as more feasible. Historically, Airbus has accelerated its delivery pace in December, as evidenced by the 112 jets delivered in December 2023.

Airbus's performance has been positively received by investors, with shares rising 0.9% on the Paris Bourse, contributing to a nearly 10% gain since the start of the year. The company's CEO, Guillaume Faury, has reiterated the commitment to the delivery targets, emphasizing the importance of the partnership with CFM in achieving these goals.

Overall, Airbus's November performance highlights the company's resilience and strategic partnerships in overcoming supply chain challenges, positioning it well for a strong finish to the year.
